Microsoft has been actively pursuing the implementation of IPv6 in its operating systems for many years. Windows Server 2008 (codenamed Longhorn) and Windows Vista both use IPv6 as their default stack."
In Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista IPv6 is enabled by default and cannot be removed as it is built into the core of the operating system. Unlike previous versions of Windows IPv6 can be used for all network operations and in all of the GUI and command line tools (with the exception of protocols that cannot support IPv6).
The growth in importance of IPv6 coupled with Vista and Windows Server 2008 makes understanding and preparing for IPv6 even more important than it has been previously.
Erion are world leaders in IPv6. As such we are able to help you with all aspects of IPv6 preparation and implementation. Coupled with our extensive experience of Windows and Unix/Linux integration we are uniquely positioned to help you prepare for IPv6 in heterogeneous environments.
Erion is actively involved in IPv6 enabling Samba 3 and Samba 4. IPv6 in Samba and other interoperability products will become increasingly important with the uptake of Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista. These products both use IPv6 as their default protocol.
